Work begins on new Strathpeffer bike pump-track and technical trail
WORK has begun on a new pump-track and technical trail through Strathpeffer Community Park, in hopes of increasing “a culture of normalising cycling as a form of recreation”.
The Strathpeffer Residents’ Association were delighted to announce that they have raised the funding required to begin second-phase work on their bikezone project. The bikezone is part of a series of projects to transform the village’s park.
The latest phase of the bikezone project will see a new pump-track and technical trail descent to be built alongside the existing bike trail within the park.
Any child with a bike will be able to use the facility, in hopes that it can be a stepping stone for youngsters before moving onto riding other trials in the area, such as Contin Forest and Knockbain.
Strathpeffer Residents’ Association said: “We are delighted to have started this project last week — it is expected to take six weeks to complete.
“This is not just a healthy outdoor activity, but also develops a culture of normalisation of cycling as a form of transport as well as a form of recreation.
“The benefits of this project will be to extend the park’s facilities, and encourage even more community use of this free-to-access resource with outdoor space for all ages.”
